With each encounter made, every boundary is tested. This short performance is about the barriers we create for ourselves coupled with how we maneuver them and when we try to tear them down to gain back control of our circumstances. The performance begins with pulling the garment from tent stakes and proceeds as I rip apart the garment in order to tread new ground. Navigating the space was cumbersome and stupidly difficult only to claim a broader yet pointless space. It is meant to suggest the difficulty in making progress with one's healing, protection, and boundaries only to be met with new challenges to be overcome. In the end, the gesture becomes an act of futility.
